Things That Shouldn’t Be Shared on Facebook
Lui September 16, 2010
I’ve always been a freak about internet security, more so when my husband’s email account has been hacked and a lot of his friends sent weird spam messages and some to other sent scam emails. My passwords are usually complicated things and since the rise of social networking sites, we had been all the more careful with our personal information. A cousin asked me why my facebook profile is so restricted. My answer: Those I don’t know need not know anything about me.
Applications in facebook can also be so addicting especially those games where a big aspect of scoring high would be having more ‘friends’ so you end up adding people you know nothing about. This happened to me at one point. I got so addicted to Sorority Life game and I was adding people here and there. Wrong move. I got out of it when another friend was doing the same and some people she added she didn’t know where hackers.
And can you imagine some friends I have who have unrestricted profiles? I even have a cousin who started a verbal fighting match just because of a wall post in her Facebook?
This article on Yahoo! Finance got my attention and I totally agree with what its saying. There are really things you have to be wary of and not to share to the whole wide world. To sum up the article, here’s what should not be shared on Facebook.
- Your birthdate and place
- Vacation plans
- Home address
- Password Clues
- Risky Behavior
