Nope. It’s Not a Walk in the Park
When people learns that I’m a stay-at-home-mom, more often than not they’d say, “Wow, lucky girl!” Like I only stay home, twiddle my thumbs, paint my toenails, curl my hair and go out to shop. I’d be laughing a big secret laugh at that. The truth is I can’t remember the last time I polished my nails anymore.
I just wish those people who tut and tat about being a stay-at-home mom as a non-career and an easy thing would see me at home even just for a single day. Even just a peak at my desktop organizer would drive other people nuts.
Aside from house chores, I also have to allocate time for my online work, crafting hobbies, and I always make it a point to include a little leisure time too otherwise I’d probably go crazy. Sometimes, I think if I go back and join the rat race, hire a helper, then all I’d think about is home-office-back to home-sleep. That’s it. I don’t need to worry about house chores. But after managing my own time and working independently, then that would feel like I’m running on automation – a Robot!
I can’t afford to be unorganized. That’s the thing about working by yourself, you have to be responsible. You fail, you lose something, you make a mess, no one is going to clean up, no one is going to do this and that except you. And this gets harder if you write and manage more than a dozen blogs, you do graphic designing/digital scrapbook designing and do website building projects.
Luckily, I recently stumbled across a really helpful little tool that helps me have a little semblance of being organized. I’m loving it so much that I really don’t know how I could have functioned without it before. Sure, there are lots of organizing softwares out there but most of them are so expensive and I also like having what I need in one really efficient software.
I’m talking about EfficientSoftware’s Efficient PIM Software. It’s a Personal Information Manager. It’s all in one so I don’t need to have a lot of software applications open, when I could use the space for other applications I need to use. Efficient PIM efficiently manages contacts, calendar – appointments, tasks diaries, notes, passwords, bookmarks manager.
I personally love the password manager. This is like heaven-sent for me. I don’t write passwords on paper nor do I store it on notes/word docs on the computer, who knows who can hack this. Thankfully Efficient PIM is encrypted, password-protected. I can also have a back up of everything I’ve encoded on the software.
In terms of ease of use, this is a hands-down winner. The interface is like your regular MS Word application so the learning curve for using it is almost nil. And best of all, its for FREE! And though they have a pro version, using the FREE is good enough. Unlike some other softwares who provide ‘free’ versions but in the end you can really maximize its use, but this one can.
I note my tasks there, mark the calendar for appointments, compile notes on menus, things to do, shopping lists. Just about everything I need to remember. And it also comes in portable version that can be loaded on a USB so access to your organizer can be done in any computer! So if you’re looking to have something to organize your desktop clutter, your schedules and whatnots, download Efficient PIM for free.
