Life with a Newborn…
Ain’t easy. And there are no truer words. Life with a newborn is not a walk in the park.
It’s been three months already since I gave birth. Time flies and I could only take the time to blog now. Everything took a backseat of course. That’s how the life of new parents are.
So yes, the past few months all my attention was (and still is) focused on our little one.
There has not been anytime to do much work (thankfully, I’m a freelancer), socializing, or doing much anything else. Even chores that I’ve been doing have been kept to the bare minimum. Things that are essential, like laundry. Shopping has taken a back seat, so even if we needed new tablecloth, I simply ignored the need and pretend our pathetic looking dining table looked something out of a furniture catalogue. I also don’t remember the last time I did major cleaning. Such things can be put on hold.
On top of being not on top of all chores and work load, were sleep deprived and exhausted. I’ve long anticipated this as this is my second child already, but nothing really prepares you from the actual reality of waking up every few hours to feed baby, change nappies, rock and soothe him etc. I gave birth via c-section so recovery took a little longer and those first few weeks was really so taxing on my body and mind as well.
And now that were on the 3rd month, I could just say – Wow! we survived. Lol. I’ve been journaling what we had been through week by week and I’ll be posting it here as soon as I can.
If you as me if it was worth it, I’d say yes. A thousandfold. At the end of those grueling first few weeks, baby starts smiling and that is one of the best rewards any parent can get. That little smile just melts me and makes me feel this is the best thing there is.
