Avoiding Edema During Pregnancy
When I was pregnant with my first child, I had some serious case of edema or swelling. Specially around my ankles. It was actually torture since I had to fit myself into my shoes the whole day.
So now I’m pretty cautious and really consciously try to avoid it. First things first, I am keeping a low sodium diet. Second, I’m really sticking to a healthy diet with lots of fruits and vegetables. Third, I drink lots of water. Fourth, I exercise daily and try not to stay in one position for too long.
And all these seems to be working. I’m almost at the end of my 2nd trimester and there is no sign of swelling. Hopefully, it stays that way unto the last trimester. I’m not going to be complacent specially since swelling creeps up really on the third trimester.
