Another Thrift Quote
Thrift means that you should always have the best you can possibly afford, when the thing has any reference to your physical and mental health, to your growth in efficiency and power. ~Orison Swett Marden
It’s been awhile since I posted another thrift quote. Hmm. This time, it got me to think coz a lot of people now buy what they could not really afford. They go into debt, because of pressure to conform from society. They need to have the latest fashion, the latest, most expensive smartphone, gadgetry and whatnots.
I think too many people give too much importance to what others dictate they should have. And they usually end up not being happy with their lot. Some people I know find it also shameful to buy thrift stuff.
As for me, I’m rather proud of myself when I score a thrift. What’s the shame in using a coupon if it means saving a couple of dollars or so. And what’s the shame if you have an old gadget?
Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against getting the latest most fantabulous gadgetry as long as you need it and would be helpful to your work not just for its show-off value. Buy things that you really need. It doesn’t need to be the one everyone is using or raving about. The best thing to ask yourself is: Do you need it and would it meet your needs?
Be a wise buyer. Sure money could be earned and you have to reward yourself, but do not go overboard. That’s my motto in life.
