Few Days of Fruit Cleansing
A few days ago, I was chatting with a friend. She was just released from the hospital because of gallstones. And she had been advised to do a cleaning diet for a few days. And with amazing results! Instead of undergoing an intrusive surgery, she was able to flush out her gallstones in a matter of days.
This reminded me that a few years back I would usually have a cleansing or detox diet once or twice a year. But sadly, when we moved to another place this regular body flushing was forgotten. I figured its high time I do a bit of cleaning and flush out toxins I’ve since amassed.
I’ve decided to a do a semi-flushing diet. I’m calling it my semi-flushing diet, because I absolutely refuse to take just liquids. I really don’t think its healthy. And besides what I just intend to do is to clean out my system and not be perpetually stranded in the bathroom which usually happens if you go on a all-liquid diet.
Here’s what I have started today.
- Breakfast: Oatmeal and muesli (with non-fat milk) and 1 banana or apple.
- No caffeine. (gah! This is the hardest part)
- Lots of water. Seriously lots of water.
- Lunch: Fruits with honey and lemon.
- Dinner: Steamed broccoli. Alternated with spinach and carrots.
- Snacks: Watermelon
- Apple juice. A whole lot of this aside from the water. Apple juice is great for digestion and flushing out toxins.
This will be the four day diet for moi and will return to regular programming after that.

It’s been awhile since I have last posted my kiddo’s doodles here. Mainly because lately she has been preoccupied with writing short stories and she also just doodles on the PC using my bamboo graphic tablet. And she keeps her drawings private Lol. It’s password protected.
A few days ago though, she asked me to buy her a couple of unlined notebooks and I did. At least that’s better than her asking for powerstop brake pad kit, which I won’t know what she’ll need for. It was an easy guess that she wanted to write and draw.
And I was right. I didn’t have to wait long till she presented me with these:

Lately she has been doodling a lot about happiness, love, cute characters, kittens, frogs, beetles. She’s amazingly fond of animals. And while most kids would go first to Cartoon Network when watching TV, she goes first to Animal Planet. And perhaps that is where she gets inspired to draw cute animals.

I’m encouraging her to express herself but I’m trying to be careful too coz I don’t to put any pressure on her. Lest it take out the joy of drawing out of her.

One on my kiddo’s shopping list.

I’m just putting her on a ‘plushie diet’ coz we don’t have a room for her stuff anymore and the way it gathers dust just drives me nuts. But she and her dad just can’t get enough of buying plushies. Everytime he goes on a trip, he usually has a couple of these softies for the kiddo.
I do appreciate that its a bit hard to resist these cuties. Sigh. Perhaps I’ll ok this one. It’s just too adorable!

I stopped seriously dieting. I wasn’t getting the results I wanted (weight loss) from dieting. Perhaps because I have always been eating healthy anyway and what I really needed more was to get out of the chair and exercise. Eating healthy and well is never an issue with me, since our family eats healthy. It’s a way of life for us, we eat a lot of veggies, fish, seldom meat and if its meat, its usually very lean meat. We usually stay on a very Cambodian/Chinese cooking/diet, which is really very healthy, very minimal oil and more on vegetables and protein from fish.
I’m also not a huge fan of chips and I rarely eat chocolates. I’ve been known to buy a big pack of chips and I can consume 1 pack for weeks, since I’m quite content to eat a few pieces. If I eat too many of it, I tend to feel nauseous with too much salt.
So I deduced that my problem is really being sedentary. I have the feeling that I know this (subconsciously) but I was just refusing to acknowledge it. Lol. I really have some serious escapist tendencies. Unless I decide otherwise, its like banging your head on motorcycle windshields in trying to convince myself that I have to get up and exercise.

It’s been a few months and I’ve started doing low impact walking exercises. And what do you know, I was starting to get some toning. Nothing drastic about weight loss, just a few kgs here and there but I liked the toning I saw and I had more energy, not too lethargic.
After awhile though it seemed like I reached a certain weight loss plateau and a few weeks already, I can’t seem to shed off a few more kgs. Which was really disheartening. But instead of dwelling on it, I just decided to get more busy and do more things requiring me to move about.
It also helped that I’m now going to school every morning and this added activity kept me more busy. And after two weeks of not weighing myself and with no strict diet and just low impact exercise, I was so stumped to see that I lost about 5 kgs. So weird. But I must confess to being amazed!
I must be doing something right this past two weeks, I just don’t know what. I should figure it out soon and do more of it and see the results. Hubby suggest perhaps its because of the daily walks, and added light weight exercises. But I not sure. Whatever it is, I hope it continues. And I am seriously hoping I won’t gain it back. LOL!

I’m so tired. But elated. Why? I managed to finish organizing my files. And I even managed to reformat my daughter’s PC, partitioned it into two drives and installed Windows and will be installing Ubuntu on the other drive. She’ll be using Windows as its more comfortable for her and really, nothing comes close to PC games, whatever others might say hahaha. But I’ll be using the Ubuntu myself, just to get the feel of Linux.
Anyway, I’m just glad I was able to do this despite my really busy schedule these days. I’m running myself ragged. Sigh. But I just had to do the organizing thing because I’m a bit OC when it comes to finding things specially on my computer. Whenever I keep working and downloading stuff, I end up with so much files everywhere that I can hardly find things till I just reach a point where I delete everything coz I can’t figure it out anyway.
I also managed to surf shop for blackberry playbook accessories for my brother since I want him off my hair. He’s been bugging me for accessories for his latest plaything. He’s turning out to be a real geek like moi. Hahaha.
And now that I have everything in place I just thought of something: I want an extra hard drive. At least 1 TB to keep all my graphic design files and stock photos. I also take lots and lots of amateurish photos so I need lots of ‘space.’ I am also obsessive about backing up my files as well as my on server website files.
So I surf shopped and added these to my wishlist. Any of this would do. Paging hubby!!! Will you buy this for me? I ran out of moolah already. Lol. This would make a nice ‘pasalubong’ gift when he comes back from another trip next week…hmm..
Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 1 TB USB - ultra portable. And has that stylish elegant finish. It doesn’t hurt that it has some cool specs that I want too.

Western Digital My Passport Essential SE 1 TB – (Metallic Red) – the red convinced me. But this one’s really nice.

Bottled Garden Stakes
Here’s a pretty lovely decor idea for your garden or your patio. Hmm, it can even be great indoors.

You can either buy this from Anthropologie or start your own little DIY project. This is the Bottled Garden Stakes retailing at $68. I think its a fab idea, and very versatile. Can be a neat and unique alternative to the usual tall planter.
